balloonsHansberry Garden & Nature Center to Hold Block Party and Flea Marketballoons

This Saturday, September 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. we will be holding a combination Block Party and Flea Market.

There will be something for everyone!

  • For music lovers there will be a drill team performance.
  • For the kids we have many board games and activities for them to participate in. Including, but not limited to sacky racing and egg races. We also will have a moon bounce!
  • For the whole family we will have not only a caricaturist, but the local fire department will be coming out to pass out information on fire prevention and safety. Did we mention they'll also be bringing their fire truck with them!
  • For adults there will be line dancing, though because we are all kids at heart, everyone is invited to participate in any and all activities that they want to.
  • And last but not least, for the more health conscience among us, health care workers will be there to perform blood pressure readings and pass out literature on how to be a more healthier you.
  • And all of the above will be set to the soundtrack of a local DJ!

Attendees will also be able to enjoy baked goods and wonderfully grilled food at the shaded Garden Café, while they peruse a great collection of vendor booths, at our annual Flea Market. A collector’s paradise, the HGNC Flea Market is a “don’t miss” market stop, with a great selection of books, antiques, and new and used merchandise available for sale. With ample parking, a clean restroom facility on site, and a relaxed spring atmosphere, the HGNC Block Party and Flea Market is fated to be a great way to spend an afternoon.

The proceeds of both the Block Party and the Flea Market will go towards 44 new garden beds that were recently built, and other garden additions, such as a large central herb garden.
